A new 168-bedroom hotel could be taking its place in the heart of Croydon after Premier Inns submitted a planning application.
The proposed building will be built at Philip House on the corner of Lansdowne Road and Dingwall Road if planning permission is granted by Croydon Council.
The proposal comes as parent company Whitbread announced it plans to expand its portfolio of 43,000 UK hotel rooms by almost 50 per cent within five years.
John Rumsey, acquisition manager for Premier Inn, said: “Investing in a new Premier Inn in Croydon is great news for us, for our customers and for Croydon.
“We’re bringing a great scheme with new jobs and economic investment, and we’re coming to a location with masses of benefits all round.
“Croydon is somewhere we have wanted to be for some time so it’s excellent news to be making progress with the scheme.”
