The inaugural British Bread Golf Open saw people hit dough balls into the River Thames on Sunday.
The mad idea was the brainchild of Homage de Fromage president Robin Hutchinson.
The cheese club was also behind suburban skiing, where blocks of ice were strapped to feet, giant buckaroo, and the king's soup, where the community gathered to make a giant soup for all.
Mr Hutchinson said: "There were many who said they had never played the sport before, until it was pointed out to them that no-one had."
Golf professionals David Bown, BJ Hathaway and Jon Wells were all on hand to coach the amateur bread golfers at Kingston’s riverside.
Mr Hutchinson said: "With about 80 competitors we have raised just over £500 for the International Youth Arts Festival and, just as importantly, raised a lot of laughter and curious expressions."
The overall winner was golfing attire enthusiast Councillor Barry O’Mahony, which prompted cries of "fix" from the crowds.
Coun O’Mahony said: "It was great fun and I can't quite believe we actually had three genuine golf pros in our midst. It’s mad how these things happen."
