A Kingston schoolgirl is buzzing with excitement, after recording a charity orchestral album she hopes will top the charts this year.
Angel-voiced Sophie Plummer, who lives in Tudor Drive, bagged a prestigious place on the “Voice in a Million” choir after winning singing competition Surrey’s Got Talent.
The 13-year-old pupil, who attends Notre Dame School in Cobham, said: “I can’t wait for the album to be released, I am really excited. It is for such a good cause and the song I am singing, Over the Rainbow, was very popular during the war.”
The album, entitled Smile, which is due for release on Monday, September 13, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain and features wartime and contemporary songs to remember the soldiers fighting in Afghanistan.
Fifty pence for each album sold will be donated to two charities, the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust and the British Forces Foundation.
In support of British Association for Adoption and Fostering, the Voice in a Million choir will perform around the country, in a series of concerts after huge success at London O2 Arena in January this year.
