Since Pubspy left home he's searched high and low for a Sunday roast to match that of mamma Pubspy without much luck - until now.

Last weekend I popped to The Treehouse in South Croydon after a reliable tip off concerning their offerings on the day of rest and I wasn't disappointed.

There is no microwaving or slap-dash presentation in this pub, all the vegetables - carrots, parsnips and roast potatoes - were neatly arranged in a criss-cross pattern on the plate and cooked in herbs that really brought out the flavours.

The chicken I plumped for was one of the most succulent I have ever tasted and don't even get me started on the gravy which made me want to lick the plate clean.

At £9.95 it's fairly cheap too.

Their dedication to food has slightly affected the pub as a place for just drinking though.

Most of the inside is laid out as a restaurant and only a few tables near the door are set aside just for drinking, though you can go outside to the beer garden in the summer which is one of the nicest in Croydon.

At £3.45 the pint of Kronenbourg was maybe a little pricey, as is the cheapest wine being the house at £13.35 per bottle.

For your money you do get to sit on some of the funkiest chairs ever seen - including two wood carved thrones which could well have come straight from the set of Lord of the Rings.

Just writing this report has made my mouth water and my stomach rumble, so don't be too surprised to see me and my disguise stuffing my face full of the delights of a roast again this Sunday.
