A Surbiton burger van losing the late-night turf war with the now 24-hour McDonald’s is branching out to recoup its losses.

Burger Box on Surbiton station’s forecourt has been run by Paulo Benfeito for the past two years, but was hit when McDonald’s, in Victoria Road, decided to extend opening at the weekends.

His business has suffered a 50 per cent hit since the fast food outlet made the changes, but he is now fighting back - with Twitter and Facebook as his main weapons.

He also decided to spread his eggs from the one basket, and now runs two catering trailers, at Wembley and Bovingdon markets, a coffee kiosk at Hampton Court station, and another at East Molesey Cricket Club.

He said: "My goal is to turn the Burger Box group into a multimillion pound company and I think it would be cool to have a few people follow me on my journey from the beginning.

"I know that I wont be able to achieve this goal by myself, so with your help it will be easier."

By following him on Facebook and Twitter, you can benefit from great offers such as free cheeseburgers for members and 50 per cent off orders.
