The Fircroft Trust is the latest charity to benefit from Surbiton Farmers’ Market, with a £500 donation boost.

The Surbiton-based charity, which provides support to those with mental health problems and learning disabilities, will use the donation to fund a polytunnel replacement for its gardening project.

The Fircroft Trust also raised £380 from the sale of plants raised from seeds and cuttings in its greenhouse, at the March and April farmers’ markets.

The market is also donating about £300 to fund a lunch for the elderly at Surbiton Assembly Rooms on May 19, organised under Surbiton High School’s friendship hour outreach project.

The Maple Road market is a community interest company, run by volunteers, and surplus proceeds are returned to community charities and good causes.

The next market, on Saturday, May 15, will welcome Yorda Adventures, which works with families in the area to support young people with disabilities.
