Passengers were sent clambering downstairs for safety when a double-decker bus crashed into a bridge outside Norbiton station for the second time in three weeks.

Five passengers received minor injuries in the accident which happened on Norbiton Avenue at 8.38am last Sunday and four of them were treated at Kingston Hospital.

The bus, operated by Arriva London, was a train replacement service as a result of engineering works and got wedged under the bridge after the driver took the wrong route.

A few weeks ago an out-of-service double-decker route 57 bus collided with the same bridge but nobody was on board and the driver escaped unscathed.

Arriva London has launched an investigation.
