For years George Cole delighted TV and film audiences with his portrayal of cheeky conmen. Now he is returning to the stage in the brand new comedy Party Piece, a hilarious play about neighbours at loggerheads.
The dodgy wheeler dealer Arthur Daley in the TV series Minder, and the ever optimistic spiv Flash Harry in the St Trinians films are just two examples of his skill in creating colourful characters.
This time around he is playing an elderly gentleman who has been living peacefully in the same house for many years but new neighbours spell trouble.
Trouble looms when they decide to hold a barbecue and as things start to go wrong tensions begin to mount on both sides of the fence with hilarious consequences.
George Cole is being joined by Peter Amory (Christopher Tate in Emmerdale) and Tracey Childs, best known for playing Linda Cosgrove in the TV series Born and Bred.
Party Piece, Richmond Theatre, January 24-29, £12-£24. Call 0870 060 6651 or visit www.richmo ndtheatre.net.
