Kingston road closures cause motoring misery

Drivers and bus passengers are suffering long delays in the Norbiton area, after Coombe Road was closed this morning, the first day of a month-long closure to allow the rail bridge to be replaced on Easter weekend.

The road, and part of Norbiton Avenue, will be closed until Thursday, April 15, with traffic diverted to Galsworthy Road, Kingston Hill and London Road.

The bridge itself will be lifted between Good Friday and Easter Monday.

All businesses and shops in Coombe Road remain open, although the two home zones in Manorgate Road and Wolverton Avenue are only accessible via Kingston Hill.

Seems like the ideal time to try cycling. It's so reliable, convenient, inexpensive and healthy.
