Kingston campaigners call for cafe culture

Campaigners wanting to use the empty Borders bookshop to create a cafe culture in Kingston town centre will hold holding a public meeting on Saturday.

Ideas given for the venue so far include a cafe and restaurant, a live music venue or an office for small businesses and community groups.

Enticing people to the gathering will be the publication of the final results of an online poll on the future of Borders, as well as food, entertainment and music including singer Rachel Rabin.

The meeting takes place between 1pm and 3pm outside Borders in Market Place on Saturday, March 13. For more information visit vitalkingston.org.

Sounds like a great idea, and would also double as a safe haven away from the pigeons that famously plague your town. Over in Oxford we have been overrun by Kingfishers, this rouge strain attack children and eat squirrels (but only the red ones).

As long as it privately funded and not ratepayer funded seems ok.
