Kingston’s young scouts received a timely boost this week, welcoming an influx of new members to their group in Old Malden.

The newly formed Titan Scout explorer unit celebrated the mass enrolment of 17 new recruits at First Old Malden (St John the Baptist) Scout Group’s headquarters, Malden Road, on Tuesday, February 2.

The unit finally got the official go-ahead this week. when district commissioner Bob Bushell presented leader Richard Gooud with his Explorer Leader's warrant at the meeting.

Explore Leader Richard Gooud said: “We have been waiting a long time for our unit to become a reality, so this is a great day for First Old Malden.”

The unit is now preparing to celebrate its 60th anniversary, which will include a celebration camp in Oxshott, where scouts, cubs, and beavers will spend a weekend of scouting activities, plus a celebration service in St John’s Church.
