Councillors have thrown out a “garden grabbing” planning application to replace a bungalow and green space with one detached and two semi-detached houses in a Kingston conservation area.
The council received four letters and a seven signature petition against the plans for 11 Albany Park Road, Kingston, citing cramped housing and pressure on parking.
Planning officers recommended the application be approved, but councillors at the Kingston planning sub committee on Wednesday voted by a four to three majority to reject it.
Councillor Dennis Doe said: “It is going to take a large piece of the garden area and put in these buildings. I think that is over development and does not fit in to Albany Park Road.”
