The Community Foundation for Surrey announced this week it has awarded more than £75,000 in grants to organisations based in Elmbridge, including community groups through its Grassroots Grants programme.
Most recently, the Elmbridge Eagles Rugby Club received £3,199 towards the costs of kits and new rugby posts and Ditton and Weston Green Neighbourcare was given £556, meaning it can continue to provide transport to elderly and disabled people in the area.
The grant will pay for running costs, such as telephone calls and insurance.
The Lower Green Community Association has also received a grant of £5,000 to fund general improvements to its community centre, including the creation of a secure play area for the use of local toddler group Happy Days.
The programme, funded by the Government, allows the foundation to distribute more than £1m in grants around Surrey.
Patrick Dowling, chairman of the foundation, said: “We are keen to support more groups working within their communities and would encourage other small voluntary organisations to contact us for details on how to apply for a Grassroots Grant.”
