Television presenter Chris Tarrant was quiz master at an event in Stoke D’Abernon on Friday, October 23, to raise money for the Princess Alice Hospice in Esher.
Hundreds of guests joined Mr Tarrant, who is vice-president of the hospice, to take-part in the quiz at the Woodlands Park Hotel and raise £6,500.
The quiz was made possible by the hospice’s Friends Extra group and long-time supporter Mundays Solicitors. A group of solicitors from the firm set the questions, with some of them proving so hard clues were sold to guests.
There was also a champagne table raffle, sponsored by Louis Roederer, and an auction, which included donated prizes of a golf holiday and VIP tickets to a recording of Mr Tarrant’s ITV show Who Wants to be a Millionaire?
The winning team on the night, led by hospice trustee Jane Formby, celebrated with prizes of wine and trivia games, while the losing team got a booby prize of wooden spoons, each signed by Mr Tarrant.
Jane Hargrave, chairman of Friends Extra, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to the event volunteers and to all the members of Friends Extra who made the event such a success.
“We need even more members so if you want to be part of this fun group and make a difference contact the hospice and join us for quizzes, luncheons, supper parties and other fundraising events.
“I would also like to say a huge thank you to the Mundays team and to Chris Tarrant for giving up his free time and for his continued and dedicated support of Princess Alice Hospice.”
