A Brazilian dance and martial arts group helped young people and the mayor relaunch a north Kingston youth centre last Saturday.
The Kingsnympton Youth and Community Centre, which boasts a 20ft climbing wall and media suite for homework and music production, offers activities for young people and qualifications to boost their CVs.
The centre has climbing and music activities on Monday nights and a junior club on Tuesdays, and plans Friday night activities to discourage antisocial behaviour.
Youth worker Matthew Angell said: “A lot of young people came and that is the main purpose of what we were trying to achieve.
"It was a really good turn out and we got the message across about our venture.”
