A park in Hook has missed out on a £400,000 makeover as part of a scheme by Boris Johnson to revamp London’s green spaces.

The Help a London park scheme gave 47 parks from across the capital the chance to win the funding for refurbishment.

King Edward’s Recreation Ground in Hook was one of the shortlisted spaces but, as the votes were counted for the south-west category, it lost out to Crane Valley Park on the Richmond/Hounslow border and Wandle Park in Croydon.

King Edward’s received 966 votes but was overshadowed by Crane Valley Park and Wandle Park which received 6,667 and 5,371 votes respectively.
