A theatre school in Kingston is celebrating after taking part in a new Guinness world record and raising £40,000 for charity.

The Stagecoach school, based at King Athelstan Primary School, helped stage the largest simultaneous performance of one show in December last year.

Now, after an anxious two month wait, the school has received confirmation the performance of Glad Rags, which was performed across the UK, Germany and the US by 165 other Stagecoach schools, is a new Guinness World Record.

The money raised from the performances will go towards providing theatre workshops for underprivileged schools.

Stagecoach founder Stephanie Manuel said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported Stagecoach during the past 20 years and congratulate all the students, teachers and parents who have helped Stagecoach in its bid to beat the record and who have helped raise so much for charity.”
