Kingston Association for the Blind (KAB) paid a visit to Kingston Museum on Wednesday, as a part of a project to re-create the work of sculptor Dora Gordine.

The association were given a tour of the new Dora Gordine exhibition at the museum on February 25, and will now go away and create their own sculptures which will then hopefully form part of the collection.

The exhibition is a joint collaboration between the museum and Kingston University and took four years to come to fruition, after a £46,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Della Murphy, development manager for KAB, said all 20 members of the association’s sculpture club had relished the chance to get involved.

“The exhibition is something they could very much relate to, with many of them coming from Kingston and they have been very excited to come and visit the work.

“Everyone is really fired up now to produce their own sculptures now and can’t wait to get on with it.”
