Pair hospitalised after drinking fake vodka

Two people have been hospitalised after drinking counterfeit vodka.
Surrey Trading Standards have issued a public warning about the fake Glen’s Vodka which causes drowsiness, dizziness and blindness.
The fake drink countains higher levels of methanol than normal, poisons drinkers and leads to nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain and blurred vision leading to blindness, and breathing difficulties.
Trading Standards manager Peter Denard said: “I am extremely concerned that this counterfeit vodka has been found on sale in the county and would urge anyone who finds it to contact us at Trading Standards immediately.
“Symptoms of methanol poisoning can take several hours to develop, so anyone who may have drunk this counterfeit product should seek immediate medical advice."
