World renowned hairdresser and stylist, Trevor Sorbie, dropped into the Princess Alice Hospice last Thursday to transform six patients with amazing makeovers.
During his visit, which was part of the Esher-based hospice's Look Good Feel Great project, he styled the hair and wigs of the patients. It was the first time he had used his expertise in a hospice setting.
"I am reluctant to go into make up sections of department stores and to hairdressers because I’m conscious of the dents and bald patches on my head. It was great today because I knew that the professionals here really understand my situation.”

The day hospice was turned into a salon and spa with natural mineral make up sessions, private consulations with a stylist and pampering treatments including manicures and massages.
"I am very proud to support this wonderful initiative at the Princess Alice Hospice, helping women to look good and therefore feel great is incredibly important," said Trevor. "Baldness can have a huge impact on a person's confidence and schemes like today really help to redress the balance and ensure that patients can receive treatments to help them not only physically but also emotionally.
"My sister-in-law received treatment for cancer about three and a half years ago. Like so many patients she experienced hair loss following her treatment. I advised her on the purchasing of a wig but it struck me that the wig looked too wiggy'. It was on that day that I put my hairdressing skills and experience to their greatest use. I cut and customized her wig, and it was the tears of joy when she put on her wig on that had a profound effect and me, leading me to set up mynewhair.org."
Sharon Perks, one of the hospice's patients, said: "I want to thank everyone for making me feel great, with special thanks to Trevor Sorbie, for the magic he has done to my hair.
