Surbiton man John Cade has designed a t-shirt celebrating his town.

He said: "I've been wanting to design a Surbiton t-shirt since I moved here nine years ago. Surbiton has all these connotations of suburbia but it's a really exciting place to live.

"It has everything - from the cafe society in Maple Road to the iconic 1930s station building."

And the iconic clock tower of the station is something that Mr Cade, who is a lecturer in graphic communication at Kingston University, has featured on the t-shirt.

He said: "I wanted to include part of the station building in the design, and also play with the idea of The Good Life - not just because of the television series but also because it is the good life you live in Surbiton."

Mr Cade, who designed and sold a Putney-themed t-shirt when he was living there, said the t-shirt should be right up Surbiton's street.

He said: "I've designed the shirt to appeal to neighbourhood loyalty and hope people will wear it in celebration of living the good life in Surbiton.

"I wore it to the Let the Music Speak street party in Maple Road last month and lots of people came up and asked me about it."

If you count yourself as a loyal Surbiton resident, you can find the t-shirts on sale at the Surbiton Festival on Saturday, September 29.
