Residents have pushed back against a proposal to build housing on a grass verge in West Molesey.

The planning application submitted to Elmbridge Borough Council proposes to build three single-storey houses with parking and bin stores on a grass verge in Island Farm Road.

Mrs Chaffe, of Fleetside in West Molesey, commented on the application: This is much needed green space in an otherwise built up area and the loss of the beautiful mature trees will be a huge loss to the area and wildlife.”

Mr Ford, also of Fleetside, commented on the application: “In an already extensively developed part of West Molesey it would appear a little spurious to claim that the development would provide ‘much needed housing’.”

He added: “Parking around the area including Fleetside is nigh on impossible given the very high volume of cars in the area.

“Island Farm Road is already an extremely busy road with both residential and industrial properties all vying for parking spaces which are in short supply.”

The planning application is still in the consultation period, with comments on the proposal being accepted until Friday, August 31.
