An unattended domestic garden incinerator caused “a serious garage fire” in West Molesey last night.
Fire crews from Walton and Esher were on the scene, after reports of a fire in Monks Avenue on Wednesday, August 22.
A Surrey Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were called to a fire in Monks Avenue, West Molesey at around 9.10pm last night.
“Two fire engines were sent to extinguish a garage fire and we left at around 11pm.”
In a post on Facebook, Walton on Thames Fire Station wrote:”Last night, crews from Walton and Esher attended a serious garage fire in Molesey.
“The fire was started by a domestic garden incinerator being left unattended, which spread to the garage causing serious damage to the contents.
“Crews remained on scene for approx 3 hours while our fire investigation officers looked for the cause of the fire.
“Please remember not to leave any fire unattended, even for a short time.”
