Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward, after a 21-year old female pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in New Malden on Monday.

Police were called to Coombe Road at 11.24pm by London Ambulance Service on Monday, (August 13) to reports of a collision.

The injured pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene at 12.16am, and her next of kin have been informed.

The 27-year old driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The man was taken to a south London police station for questioning and has since been released under investigation.
