Garsons Farm in Esher is welcoming families to test their falconry skills.

The farm, which is on Winterdown Road, Esher will host the free event on Friday, August 17. Experienced falconer Alan Greenhalgh and his flock of "magnificent" birds will "delight and amaze" visitors between 10am and 4pm.

The falcon flying displays will run for two hours, from 1pm-3pm. In between flights visitors will be able to meet the birds and their handlers and ask them questions.

They will also be able to try their hand at falconry by holding some of the birds with expert instruction.

Garsons director, Ben Thompson said: "We're thrilled to have Alan and his team of winged wonders at Garsons.

"Seeing these majestic birds in flight is nothing short of breathtaking, particularly the species that are not native to the UK, as there are very few opportunities to see them in the flesh.

"It’s a brilliant way for kids and adults alike to learn about these spectacular stars of the sky."

Among the birds of prey on show will be harris hawks, a bald eagle, a gyrfalcon, a turkey vulture, a kestrel and a kookaburra.

Several different owls will also strut their stuff, including the world's largest species, the great grey owl, alongside a Sunda scops owl and a Siberian eagle owl.

There will also be some native UK birds to see, such as the tawny owl and a peregrine falcon.
