Surrey-born Jack Draper missed his chance to become the first England winner of the Wimbledon boys’ singles title in 56 years.

Draper, 16, was defeated 6-1 6-7 (2-7) 6-4 on Court One by Taiwanese top seed Tseng Chun-hsin in a gripping final on Sunday.

The son of former Lawn Tennis Association chief executive Roger Draper, who attended Reed’s School in Cobham, took the second set but was let down by 42 unforced errors and a ninth ace from Tseng.

Draper booked a place on the final after beating Nicolas Mejia 7-6 (7/5) 6-7 (6/8) 19-17 after four hours and 23 minutes on Court Three.

Draper said: "I felt the adrenaline from the crowd, having that many people watching me was a surreal feeling,

"In the first set it was the sense of occasion, and there was a tiny bit of pressure on me as a Brit, but I went from there.

"It gave me a lot of confidence, it was amazing. I'm still taking it in, it's been an unbelievable week."
