A Kingston charity which supporters children with cancer and life-limiting conditions has won a not-for-profit organisational award.

Momentum Children’s Charity was honoured with the Surrey Not-For-Profit Organisation gong at the Toast of Surrey Business Awards.

The ceremony, held at Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge, had 14 award categories which were designed to celebrate businesses from across a range of sectors in the area.

Bianca Effemey, Momentum Children’s Charity founder and chief executive, said: “A huge thank you to the organisers, judges, and sponsors who contributed towards us winning this wonderful award.

“It’s our 15th anniversary next year and I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved to-date.

“I look forward to continuing our good work in the future years, expanding our range of services further and reaching more families that need us.

“I have a fantastic team around me and winning this award gives them the recognition they deserve, so thank you!”

It was attended by Momentum Children’s Charity’s head of corporate fundraising Nicola O’Donnell, who collected the award on its behalf.

The charity now supporters more than 150 families who are dealing with cancer or life-changing conditions, as well as around 100 bereaved families across both Surrey and south west London.

The awards ceremony was held on June 27.
