An 18-year-old man has been found guilty of spraying acid in the face of a 17-year-old boy in Kingston.

Donell Wilkins appeared at Kingston Crown Court to face a charge of throwing a corrosive substance on another person with intent to burn or commit GBH.

The court heard how on the evening of July 21 last year, Wilkins had been with a group of teenagers when he became involved in a dispute with two males in Fife Road.

Wilkins then proceeded to spray a “corrosive substance” into one of the faces of the two males before walking away.

The 17-year-old victim was rushed to hospital where he was treated for burns to his face and eye, though the exact type of the corrosive substance was “not established”.

Officers were able to track Wilkins from CCTV footage of the incident, which led to his arrest.

Wilkins was found guilty on Friday (June 22) and will be sentenced on Friday, 13 July, at the same court.
