Three young artists from Kingston have been chosen as winners of a competition, and will have their pieces displayed in June.

Kingston Artists Open Studios (KAOS) started the Young KAOS competition in 2016, to raise art's profile in the community.

Students aged 16 to 19 from local schools and colleges submit their entries online, in a process designed to be as simple as possible to avoid disrupting exam preparations.

This year's winner was George Birch, from Tiffin School, with Freja Khela from Tolworth Girls' School and Yena Choi from Tiffin Girls' School coming second and third respectively.

Alison Pugh, Young KAOS co-ordinator, said: "Every year it has been exciting to see young people sharing their artistic talent, submitting dynamic and imaginative work that demonstrates artistic flare and a passion for manipulating a broad range of art materials.

"Young art and design students are the future lifeblood of our vibrant creative art community and this is evident in the high quality submissions that we have received."

The winners will have their work exhibited alongside that of accomplished artists during the Open Studios event in June.

This year, 80 artists are taking part in the event spread across 19 venues in Kingston on the weekends of June 9/10 and 16/17.
