Four people have been arrested for driving offences after police used a special camera to track down their vehicles.
New recruits to Wandsworth police joined forces with Wandsworth Common safer neighbourhoods team in an operation to catch drivers suspected of breaking the law.
They used an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera which takes an image of the number plates of passing cars. The data is then run through sources like the Vehicle Licensing Agency, the Police National Computer and motor insurance databases.
Detective Constable Nick White organised the operation, which was set up in Trinity Road: "By utilizing the ANPR technology we arrested two people for motor vehicle offences, one who was wanted on warrant and another for traffic offences."
