A gas hob that was left on is believed to have caused a fire at a market stall in Kingston.
The whole interior of the wooden stall was damaged by fire and smoke. No injuries were reported.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: “It’s believed this fire was caused by the hob being left turned on.
“The fire had spread beyond the hob to the wooden wall and fridge.
“This incident highlights how important it is to make sure your cooker and hob are switched off as soon as you’ve finished using them, whether you're cooking at home or in a commercial premises.
“You should also keep your oven, hob and grill clean and free from grease as a build-up can be a fire hazard.”
The Fire Brigade was called to the incident at 4.52pm on January 15 and the fire was under control at about 6pm.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
