A Kingston woman has been shortlisted for an award which celebrates working mums.

Vanessa Germond is nominated in the Mumandworking Awards 2018, for her innovative gadget which helps organise little girls’ hair accessories.

The awards were launched eight years ago to celebrate the country’s leading lights in flexible working and feature 14 categories, from Flexible Business of the Year to Inspiring Business Parent, with categories for bloggers, team members, technology and innovation.

Vanessa is up for Best Start Up Business of the Year for her venture, The Hair Helper, which she set up in November 2015.

She said: "I am delighted to have been shortlisted for these awards, as this business has been built around flexibility and multi-tasking while raising two small children.”

Awards will either be judged by a panel of leading businesswomen or a public vote, which closes on February 5, with the final due to be held at NatWest in Bishopsgate in March.
