A Walton man has been jailed after a “disgusting attack” in which he dragged the victim's arm across the glass in a broken car window.

George Willis, of Thamesmead, was sentenced to three years and three months in prison at Kingston Crown Court on Tuesday, September 19.

He changed his plea to guilty on the second day of a two-week trial for the charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, criminal damage and being in possession of an offensive weapon.

The victim was sitting in a car park off New Zealand Avenue in Walton when Willis approached.

The 22-year-old was wielding a metal pole and smashed the driver’s side window, leaving shards of glass in the window frame.

Willis grabbed the victim’s arm, pulled it through the window and rubbed it along the shards of glass causing a large cut eight to 10ins long.

He then smashed the other window of the car before the victim drove away.

Detective Inspector Andy Jenkins said: “This was a disgusting attack by George Willis who showed vicious intent in what he did.

“Fortunately he won’t be troubling anyone for a while as he’s now behind bars.

“I would like to thank the victim for supporting us with this investigation and hope that the lengthy sentence in this case provides reassurance that with the co-operation of the public in our investigations we are able to take action to make Surrey communities safer.”
