The new headteacher at a Kingston primary school has been welcomed by staff, pupils and parents at a special mass.
A service at St Raphael’s church officially welcomed Sarah Keefe to St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Primary School last Thursday (September 14).
All pupils from years two to six attended the Mass, with some taking part in serving and others drawing pictures to decorate the order of service.
Bishop Paul Hendricks, of the Archdiocese of Southwark, led a special service of induction and celebrated Mass while the chairman of the governors handed Mrs Keefe the keys to the school before a tea party to round off the festivities.
Mrs Keefe said: “It was wonderful to have such a packed church on Thursday. I’d like to thank Bishop Paul, Father Michael, and all the parents and members of the community who made the effort to come.
I have come to love this school over the years I have worked here, so it is an honour and a privilege to take on this important role and I am committed to making sure that we continue to grow in strength.
