A shop owner is amusing customers with a quirky invention inspired by a classic 1970s sitcom sketch.
Tony Walker, the owner at Croxley Hardware near Rickmansworth, created his own interpretation of the famous Two Ronnies scene, where a customer attempts to buy fork handles but infuriates the shopkeeper who believes he is asking for four candles.
Having regularly been asked for four candles, Mr Walker has now crafted a set of candles in the shape of wooden fork handles, which can be viewed in the shop.
He said: “It is such an iconic sketch, there is no wonder it is quoted so regularly.
“Now when someone asks for four candles - or fork handles - I can just point to the display.
“I had no idea it would be so well received, but I would like to think that Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett would have approved.”
