A 10-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted in woods in Claygate.

Police say she was walking through the woods running parallel to Foxwarren between 6pm and 6.30pm on Thursday, August 17, when a man attacked her.

He ran off after she managed to kick him.

Surrey Police has released an e-fit and hope the public can help them find him.

The man is described as Asian, 40 to 45 years old, 6ft 1, of a stocky build with collar-length black hair and a full black beard.

Members of the public saw him running along Stevens Lane in the direction of Woodstock Lane towards Chessington.

He was wearing blue jogging bottoms, possibly with a Chelsea FC logo, and a grey or white tee-shirt.

Detective Constable Helen Flower, who is investigating, said: “I’d like to reassure the community that we’re making every effort to identify this man as quickly as we can. We have stepped up our presence in the area to provide reassurance and our specialist officers are working closely with the girl to support her.”

Anyone who recognises the man from the e-fit or has any other information is asked to call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference 45170090450.
