A man charged with kidnap, murder, rape and attempted murder in Kingston has appeared in court.

The 33-year-old man charged with the kidnap, rape and murder of one woman, and the kidnap, rape and attempted murder of a second will appear at Old Bailey on July 26.

A second man, 28, charged with the kidnap of both women will appear at Old Bailey on August 21.

The pair appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court this morning (July 24) after being charged on Saturday, July 21. The 33-year-old was arrested in Kent and the 28-year-old in New Malden on July 20.

Neither man was granted bail.

Officers believe they know the identity of the woman found dead at an address in Coombe Lane West on Wednesday, July 19, but formal identification is yet to take place.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Friday, July 21, gave cause of death as an incised wound to the neck.

Police said a second woman is being supported by a specialist officer from within Specialist Crime and Operations.

A 29-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender but was released under investigation on Thursday, 20 July.
