Bentalls Department Store is encouraging shoppers to celebrate its 150th anniversary with them over the next four days.

Activities will be held from Thursday July 20 until Sunday July 23 at the store that is located at the Bentall Centre in Kingston.

Bentalls was first opened in 1867 as a drapery.

A statement from Bentalls said: “Discover how Frank Bentall turned a small drapery on Clarence Street into the Bentalls store you know and love today. See the timeline of key events from Bentalls’ history, find out which celebrity guests have visited us in store over the years and see artefacts from the archives. Visit the exhibition on the Second Floor from Thursday, July 20 until the end of August.”

The exhibition will officially open tomorrow (Thursday) from 5pm where a complimentary glass of Prosecco will be offered as you learn the history of Bentalls.

Singing duo, Verity & Violet, will be performing live from 5pm until 8pm that evening.

A “giant” birthday cake will be constructed by the British Sugarcraft Guild on the lower ground floor to mark the occasion. Visitors are obliged to help themselves.

Victorian dishes will be available from the memory-lane menu on the restaurant located on floor three.

On Saturday, July 22, Teddy Maximus will be creating personalised pet accessories from 10.30am to 4.30pm on the lower ground floor. Also on offer will be Charbonnel & Walker chocolate, Cartwright & Butler biscuits.

A box of chocolates from Urban Village Chocolate has also been made for the 150th anniversary that will be on display.

Families can enjoy a Punch & Judy puppet show on the Saturday at 12pm and 12.45 pm on the third floor in Toys retailers.

A free prize draw can be entered with the opportunity to claim a hamper full of prizes including items from brands like Charbonnel & Walker, Le Creuset, Ruark and Astley Clarke. Entry forms can be filled out in store from Thursday July 20 to Sunday July 30.
