Kingston Police has issued a bizarre appeal for a ‘chat’ with a man wanted for offences including aggravated burglary.

The letter, tweeted by Kingston MPS, expresses the police’s ‘sneaky suspicion’ that Jason Smith is aware they want to speak to him because he ran away when they ‘popped over’ to see him.

The letter reads: “As you can imagine we are keen to have a chat and it will have to be at our place, not yours. We do offer comfortable facilities however, such as long life microwave food and a telephone.

“We ask that you kindly hand yourself into a nearby police station of your choice, but preferably Kingston.”

Members of the public are advised to stay away from the gentleman and call 999 straight away.

Police said: “A direction of travel and clothing description would be a bonus!

“Anyway, our officers will be keeping both eyes wide open for you whilst on patrol and our proactive teams are working hard in the background to trace your movements.

“It is just a matter of time, hope to see you soon.”

Smith is wanted in connection with multiple serious offences in Kingston including burglaries with a knife, dangerous driving and theft.
