Helicopters have joined the search for an elderly man reported missing from Epsom.

James Middleton, known as Jim, was last seen at midday yesterday (Sunday, July 2) as he went out on his mobility scooter heading towards the Stew Ponds and Christchurch Road area.

But the 70-year-old has not returned home and officers are concerned for his welfare as this behaviour is out of character.

A helicopter crew from the National Police Air Service (NPAS) and a unit from Surrey Search and Rescue were scrambled as police officers searched the area yesterday afternoon.

Mr Middleton is described as white, five feet six inches tall, of large build, and with brown greying hair. He was wearing a body warmer, dark grey shorts, blue trainers, white socks and was riding his four-wheeled light blue mobility scooter.
