A serious incident at Cobham Services yesterday sent a man to hospital with head injuries.

Police were called to the petrol station forecourt at around 3.20pm on Monday (June 26) to reports of a fight between two groups of people.

The man, who is 20, was flown by air ambulance to hospital after the assault.

Although most of the services is open as usual, the petrol station remains closed.

Officers are trying to trace a white van that was seen nearby at the time.

The van is a white Peugeot Partner Van, registration NX63 VLP, with a roof rack and ladder strapped to the roof.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Jo Hayes said: “We are appealing to the public to help us trace this van. I want to know the route it took to get to the services, where it went once it left Cobham services, and where it is now. I also want to know who was in the van, and where they are now.

“We also believe that there are witnesses who have yet to make contact with us, and I would urge them to come forward by calling us on 101.

“In particular I understand there may have been people filming the incident on mobile phones or dashcams, and their footage could be invaluable to our investigation.”
