A unique drive-in cinema is coming to Walton, showing a long list of classic films.

Pure Cinema Experience, at Apps Court Farm, is holding its first event this Sunday and will screen iconic films alongside running a range of themed activities.

There will be neon golf, LED ball pits, urban ping pong and more to keep you occupied before the film, as well as food and drink available to buy.

Luke Temple, who is organising the events alongside friend Zoe Ettershank, said: “We are trying to create the nostalgic feel of cinema with a modern twist. We have kept it so it has a festival vibe to it, with some great catering companies offering food, the bar for those who aren’t driving and some interesting things to do.”

Tickets are available online, and they can be booked either for a whole car or single walk-in tickets for punters who prefer to sit under the stars.

Pulp Fiction will be the first screening, on Sunday May 28, and there are currently plans to show 16 other films this year, including Jurassic Park, The Lion King, The Shining and Home Alone.

Mr Temple said: “The films we have chosen are all cult classics. I asked on Facebook for everyone’s favourite films, and these are the ones that came up again and again, plus a couple of our own additions.

He hopes to introduce small tweaks to the theme and that reference iconic moments and quotes from the films – look out for unique boxes of chocolates to accompany Forrest Gump, for example.

“I can’t wait. I’m very excited. There has been a lot of planning, and we are looking to build something we can take nationwide. I’m from Walton so it’s brilliant that we are starting there, but I think people everywhere would really enjoy this,” he said.
