An explosion near Chessington this afternoon meant a woman was taken to hospital.
An oxygen cylinder exploded near Clayton Road, and fire crews arrived to find two tonnes of rubbish on fire.
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade confirmed two crews, from Surbiton and New Malden, attended the blaze at 1.11pm, and the fire was out by 1.38pm.
A spokesman for Surrey Fire and Rescue Service said a crew was dispatched but did not arrive because it was not needed.
A man who was working in a nearby garage said: “It was scary. It was really loud, but I didn’t see what happened because I was inside.”
The London Ambulance Service has been contacted.
