Police have released CCTV images of a university student who went missing from Chessington just hours before his disappearance, with the search entering its sixth day.

Victor Ivanelo, 21, a Russian student at the University of Surrey, in Guildford, went missing after leaving a friend's home in Esher at 2am on Sunday morning.

Fears are continuing to grow for his safety, with his belongings found in Woodstock Lane South, in Chessington, on Sunday morning by a horserider.

Detectives have now released CCTV images of him travelling on a South West Trains service in Clapham Junction at about 3.37pm the day before his mysterious disappearance.

He is seen wearing three quarter length jacket, walking style boots and black headphones.

Chief Inspector Amy Buffoni said: “We are hoping these images will jog memories and help the public remember if, when and where they may have spotted Victor.

“We need to establish what route he took when he left his friend’s home in Esher during the early hours of Sunday morning and I welcome information from the community.”

“We need everyone to be alert to what Victor looks like and to look out for him as they go about their daily business. Officers are continuing to carry out extensive investigations to locate him and I would encourage local residents to speak with officers carrying out house to house enquiries.”

On Thursday, a team of 30 combed a bridleway in Chessington as part of the search for Mr Ivanelo, which has intensified over the last few days.

Since disappearing there have been no sightings of him and no communication with loved ones, Surrey Police said.
