Scenes of blue seas and brightly-coloured tropical fish have been painted on the walls as part of a £10,000 renovation of a children's ward in Kingston Hospital.

Children's charity Momentum renovated three rooms at the hospital, thanks to sponsors from The Generations Foundation and Thomas Cook Children's Charity who donated just under £10,000 between them.

The triage room in the paediatric A&E, where almost all children are seen when they first arrive in the department, and a consulting room in the children's outpatients are now adorned with the sealife makeover, while the A&E teen cubicle has been decorated with a city skyline theme.

Paediatric department senior sister Nina Boorman said: "The newly refurbished rooms have made such a difference to the staff and patients.

"The sealife scenes are calm and uplifting which is imperative in helping to relieve the anxiety that many families can understandably feel when they visit hospital.

"We are incredibly grateful to Momentum and the sponsors for making these makeovers possible."
