It is believed Mr Ahmed was attacked by a group of men, all described as black and believed to be aged in their teens or 20s.
A second victim, a 17-year-old boy, was also taken to hospital following the attack but was discharged with a minor stab wound.
Four arrests were made on Monday - all teenagers in their late teens or early twenties – and have been bailed until early December pending further enquiries.
