Olympic champion and multiple world champion rower Alex Gregory MBE visited pupils at Cobham’s Feltonfleet school just weeks after his gold-medal victory in Rio.
Mr Gregory, who achieved his second successive gold medal in the men’s coxless fours alongside Molesey Boat Club’s Moe Sbihi, took time out from training to chat to the pupils, aged five to 13.
During the visit on Wednesday, Mr Gregory presented Feltonfleet’s Growth Mindset in Sports awards to pupils who had demonstrated positive mental attitude in sport, as well as speaking to team captains.
He said: “Speaking to the pupils about my Olympic experiences was made all the more enjoyable by their varied, interesting and insightful comments and questions.”
Ed Smith, Feltonfleet’s director of sport, said: “We are very excited that Alex was able to meet with the pupils.
“As an Olympic champion, he embodies all the qualities we hope to instil within our Feltonfleet pupils – determination, growth mindset, teamwork – we know he will be a great inspiration.”
