A manhunt is underway amid fears a schoolboy was abducted after he was seen being bundled into a van in Surrey.

Surrey Police released a CCTV image of a black VW van driving away from Redhill shortly before 5pm yesterday after a witness reported seeing a child being pulled into the van.

An abandoned bike was found at the scene, yet no missing persons report has been filed, a police spokesman said.

The owner of the van has since been found and ruled out of the investigation, but police are continuing to hunt for a similar VW Transporter van with an 02 registration plate, no side writing, sliding side doors, and three alloy wheels.

A Surrey Police spokesman said: “We continue to treat this incident seriously and will do so until the full circumstances have been established.

“Residents may be particularly concerned, but we hope our response reassures people how seriously we take any such reports of suspicious behaviour.”

Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101.
