Police officers want to speak to the driver of a white van after a motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash in Thames Ditton.

The 37-year-old rider of a black Honda motorcycle was taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting with serious arm and shoulder injuries following the crash in Hampton Court Way at 5.40pm yesterday.

A white Ford Focus is believed to have been involved.

The biker remains in hospital in a critical condition, according to Surrey Police.

Surrey Police officers believe the driver of a white van stopped to help but left before speaking to officers.

Sergeant Eddie Ryan said: "We are trying to locate the driver of a white van who is reported to have stopped to assist following the collision.

“He may well have witnessed the collision or have useful information which could help us piece together the circumstances of the incident.”

The road was closed while firefighters from Esher and paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance helped the man.
