A wheelchair user has fallen onto the tracks at Surbiton station.

Emergency services were called to Surbiton station at 1.34pm today to reports of a man having fallen on the tracks.

Firefighters from Surbiton helped lift the man, whose name and age has not been released, back onto the platform.

An air ambulance was called to the station, but was cancelled on route.

It is believed the man suffered only minor injuries.

Trains are currently being delayed from the station by about 15 minutes with some cancellations, though the disruption is expected to clear by 3pm.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "Officers were called to Surbiton rail station on Tuesday, May 3, after a man and an electric wheelchair ended up on the tracks.

"Both the man and the wheelchair were cleared off the tracks. The man suffered minor injuries."
